Wansfell View is situated in a prominent position at the end of the main street in Hawkshead. Once a farm carpenter's shop it is within level walking distance of the pretty village of Hawkshead with a variety of pubs, shops and cafes. Just north of Esthwaite Water, Hawkshead is a pretty market village marked by a jumbled collection of stone houses, old arches and squares that enchanted both William Wordsworth – who went to school here – and later Beatrix Potter, who lived at Hill Top – a five-minute drive away at Sawrey. The main bus stop is located at the entrance to the village, opposite the Chocolate Factory, near the main car park and toilet block. Bus services are available to Coniston and Ambleside (505) where you can link to services which cover the whole of the area.
