Property information
Captain's House is one of Hydra's historical houses that is still privately owned by the descendants of a family who was actively involved in the 1821's War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire.
The walls of the house are decorated with portraits, paintings and nautical items of that period. The terrace, where you can relax and enjoy the view from listening to Maria Callas, overlooks the amazing Hydra harbor and town.
You will have access to the whole house and both terraces. Captain’s house is only 4' from the port on foot.
The scenic views and the serenity of the house require our guests to climb approximately 100 steps, though not all at once! Some steps are wider and less steep, making the climb easier.
Our guests can use the adorable mules of the island to move their luggage to the house, at an additional cost. We can assist you with organizing everything with our colleague Kostas who takes good care of the animals!
Please note that this has been the main way of transport of all stuff in Hydra since the founding of the island, as all wheels are banned on the island - even bikes.
