A beautiful, refurbished 19th century 130 sq.m single story house sitting amongst 47 thousand sq.m of olive and pine trees at the top of a hill with amazing views of Poros and the surrounding area right next to Galatas! Utterly peaceful, with no neighbors for hundrets of meters. Enjoy your own private hill in isolation but only a stone throw away from the excitement of Poros and the Galatas market. Thick walls of stone, wooden roof, pergolas and a light breeze keeps you cool in the blistering summer heat. Traditional Greek island look inside out will warm your heart, with beautiful tall wooden roofs, a fire place, thick stone walls and the necessary 21st century appliances to make life comfortable and easy. The house is separated into two buildings, a big one with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a hall and a living room and a smaller one connected via an outside arch door which has 1 bathroom and 1 bedroom which I will be keeping for private use. There are 4 single beds overall plus 1 couch that turns into bed and could accommodate two people. We have furnished the place with what we see and find beautiful in our lives. Its a place we love to go. A place you will love too. The house is completely flat. There are no stairs inside. Nor are there any stairs leading to the house. The immediate garden has only a couple of level changes, a stair or two high. You park right outside the house (there is ample free parking space) which makes taking m shopping and all your staff in and out very easy. There is so much space outside for you to walk and enjoy, so go discover more views and places to sit. There are 2 big pergolas outside and a beautiful bamboo lounge for you to relax on. Depending on your view moods you can sit under one of them through the hot summer day. Many places to sit and soak up the sun and tables to dine on, many sofas and chairs to arrange anyway you please so that you make the most out of the endless outdoor space at your disposal.
Have lived most of my life in Greece. Studied Architecture in London and art in the Athens School of Fine Arts. Love sports especially swimming and running and I take part in many amateur races. I have traveled extensivaly in Europe and a bit in other continents. Love the sea, the outdoors and long hikes.
As an American friend who visited once said “it is like a movie set”. The view feels so close that you literally have the impression you can reach over and grab hold of the houses across the straits, that the boats and ships passing by, or floating on the perfect blue, are toys you can pick up and play with as if you are a child in its bath. You are strangely hypnotised by watching the vessels passing through the straits, or those connecting Poros and Galatas go back and forth, lazily crossing the narrow path of water carrying people ready to go about their everyday chores in the distance. You can hear life in the town down below but like a wisper, as if there is a silencer on it, muffled by some invisible blanket covering everything. Time slows down up here. The sunrise view is a revelation. The morning sun shines through the olive grove brunches and an orchestra of birds in pandemonium bid you good morning as you sit mesmerized by the overwhelming performance nature is giving just for you. At the distance you hear the Poros town clock and the local churches ring their bells as the first sounds of the two towns waking up start to rise. The morning haze will add a sense of the dramatic, the long shadows cast by the rising sun dance to the sounds of nature welcoming a new day, and when you think it cant get any better you might hear the sound of an eagle calling while flying above the scenery. Then the cicadas will take over, and by mid day an army of them will dominate, a lazy bark in the distance or a sensual miao will do nothing to challenge their mighty performance and later, as the sun gets hotter, sing to you sweet evening siesta lullabies. At night you will hear the lonely owl brake the silence as Poros night life starts to pick up in the distance, night lights mirroring off the wrinkles of the dark night sea...
