Heracles Traditional Cretan Houses are located in Spili, a picturesque village located at an altitude of 430 meters, 28 kilometers south – east of Rethymno, in the centre of Crete. Due to the location of the village you have the chance to explore easily the north as well as the south part of the island. Heracles Traditional Cretan House1 is a historic house that was built almost 250 years ago and has been carefully renovated with love and attention so none of its unique traditional elements was harmed. It is located on the ground floor of the builing. Its stone walls are 60 cm thick, providing natural insulation, keeping the house cool in summer and warm in winter. The house can accommodate up to 5 people. In the living area you will find a sofa-bed which can accommodate two people and a flat screen TV. In the bedroom the old wine production space has been transformed into an amazing double bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances you may need such us oven, cooking rings, fridge, kettle, dish washer and washing machine. Next to the kitchen there is one more single bed and a traditional bread oven with a decorative fireplace. Outdoors you can enjoy relaxing in the spacious veranda with great view to the surrounding mountains. Heracles Traditional House 2 is situated on the upper floor of Heracles Traditional House 1. The two houses share the same external entrance. The house can accommodate up to 4 people and has been recently renovated with care. Its stone walls are 60 cm thick and they keep the house cool during summer and hot during winter. In the living area there is a dining table with 4 chairs, a sofa bed, which can accommodate 2 people, and a flat screen TV. The bathroom has a bathtub. The bedroom has a double bed. In the bedroom you can also find two old wooden cabinets that have been carefully maintained and are part of the architecture the old Cretan houses used to have.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances you may need such us oven, cooking rings, fridge, kettle, dish washer and washing machine. Outdoors there is another dining table and some sun beds so you can enjoy the spectacular views to the surrounding mountains.

The house is situated in the upper part of the village, 150 meters from the main road and Heracles Hotel. The main square of the village is lovely and has a fine stone fountain constituted by a row of stone carved lion heads from where crystal-clear water flows all year around. Spili offers all amenities a traveler may need. A lot of taverns, cafes and shops are reachable in a small distance. Some interesting Byzantine churches and a medieval tower are quite interesting to visit.
