Hosts Dionissis and Mavra were brought up in Zakynthos and developed strong connections with the island and in particular with its rich physical and cultural environment. Their hobbies include sailing, hiking, climbing, landscape photography, music. Due to this intimate relationship with their surroundings and nature, they try to harmonize LIORIZA Country Houses as much as possible to the local architecture and environment creating a sense of place. Furthermore, the hosts are happy to share with their guests tips and local knowledge about places and events that will make their stay a beautiful experience and hopefully create long-lasting memories.

LIORIZA Country Houses are three traditional stone houses located in a quiet, rural area in Kalamaki. These self-catering houses are close to the town of Zakynthos (~4km) and beach (~2km). Each of the houses can comfortably host 4 persons, while a sofa bed is also offered in two of them, in case of larger groups. All houses are air conditioned, include a fully equipped kitchen, TV, free WiFi and parking. You should also expect to find: an olive grove with old olive trees, a dry garden with drought tolerant plants including Mediterranean herbs (e.g., oregano, rosemary, thyme) to incorporate into your cooking, a wildlife-friendly garden (e.g., for butterflies, birds), local products (olive oil, honey and wine), information about the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, local heritage and culture. Sorry, but you will not find: a tidy green lawn ... water demanding and not as much wildlife-friendly, a swimming pool … more than happy to share tips about where you can best enjoy Ionian Sea waters, and also take part in ecotourism activities offered by local guides and businesses that we support

LIORIZA Country Houses neighbourhood is mainly rural. However, it is located close to restaurants, bars and markets as well as car and bike rentals. The accommodation is less than 2km from Kalamaki beach and Mt Skopos, offering the option of swimming, hiking, cycling, water sports, horse riding, fishing tourism and other nature activities. Zakynthos town is less than 4 km away. The houses are located at the South East of Zakynthos island and are neighbouring the National Marine Park of Zakynthos that aims to protect the nesting beaches of the loggerhead sea turtle Caretta caretta, the monk seal Monachus monachus habitat and population, as well as the terrestrial and coastal flora and fauna, the marine ecosystem and fish stocks.
