Marathi is located 17km east of the city of Chania. It is located in the Bay of Souda and is situated south-east on the Akrotiri peninsular. It’s a very popular beach location as it is locally known for its crystal-clear waters and shallow shores. It has two beautiful beaches that are divided by a small harbour and a pier with many excellent tavernas and beach bars. The beaches of Marathi are well organised with umbrellas, sunbeds and showers etc but it also has many opportunities for food and drink. These beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag status and also have lifeguards on duty making it the perfect location for families and children. The beaches also have accessibility facilities for people with disabilities to enjoy this breath-taking region of Crete. Marathi is known for its beauty, serenity and remoteness so finding local amenities like pharmacies, mini markets or supermarkets is a necessity. Around a 10-minute drive away from your villa in the village of Pithari you will find pharmacies, coffee shops and mini markets. Closer towards the city of Chania you will find bigger named supermarkets and more branded shops for all your other essentials.
