Villa Riva is a beautiful, four-storey 200 year old Venetian villa, set on a small square facing the lapping waters of the Adriatic. It accommodates 6-8 people, and offers stunning views of Vis and its harbour from the main bedrooms and terraces. At once luxurious and relaxed, it’s a perfect getaway for those who love the beauty and history of Europe, crave the relaxation of a seaside location, and want a comfortable, private retreat from which to enjoy it all. Each bedroom has a full bathroom beside it with shower, toilet and basin. All the bedrooms can be configured as King sized doubles or the second and third bedroom can be configured as twin bedrooms with two single beds if preferred. The kitchen / living level (top floor) and the second bedroom (second floor) have terraces.

We are two Australian families who love travel, good food, and relaxed times with family and friends. Vis is 30+ hours away from Australia but, for us, it is worth every minute of the trip. It’s an escape “far enough to the middle of nowhere to be worth getting to”, “the place where life takes over…”. Our love affair with Vis and Villa Riva started when we first visited in 2006 as two couples. Nine years, eight visits, and four children later, we decided to buy our own slice of paradise, purchasing the very first villa we stayed in. We want to share the house, and this special island, with guests from all over the world. We hope you enjoy the experience as much as we do time after time.

Vis lies between Italy and Croatia, about 50 kilometres southwest of Split. It’s the outermost inhabited island amongst the myriad of Croatian islands that make up Dalmatia. There are daily flights into Split from European capitals, and 2-3 ferries a day to Vis (1.5 -2.5 hours) from Split. Perfectly located, the house is situated in the village of Kut on the opposite side of Vis harbour from where the ferry arrives (Vis town). This is the quieter, more private side of the bay. Despite the tranquility, it is only a short walk from the house to beaches, restaurants / bars, a supermarket, bakeries, fruit shop, travel agency (incl vehicle hire) and ATM/bancomat.
