SHIBUI GARDEN BUNGALOWS & RESTAURANT ,North Lombok Shibui Garden Bungalows welcomes all types of guests by offering group or individual accommodation in three island style bungalows. If you want somewhere with warmth and character you will find it at Shibui. The Lombok cottages were designed and hand crafted by the owner. All construction consisted of locally sourced and sustainable materials, such as coconut wood, bamboo and recycled teak. The sleeping rooms with their high thatched roofs are ideal for couples and lone travelers who want an authentic, nature-friendly atmosphere. Each Bungalow has a private hot water bath, and all sleeping rooms are screened in and contain a fan. Situated among floral gardens, the rooms offer a sense of peace and individuality while also providing a communal atmosphere where guests, if they choose, can mingle with others. Two large thatched roof pagodas provide space for reading or connecting up with family or friends on your laptop. All areas offer free high speed internet. Guests can enjoy their complimentary breakfast in Shubui’s Bamboo House restaurant, which also offers a selection of international dishes for lunch or dinner.

The Shibui Garden Bungalows is owned and operated by Kadek Eka Puspayanti and her American husband, Captain Brett Tagrin. They have two lovely daughters and a new-born son, Kaimu, approaching two years old. They designed the garden and bungalows from the ground up, and the unique island style construction was undertaken by Captain Brett. An organic building project from the start, all the beams, bamboo fencing, trim and basic wood construction were assembled from the property’s many towering palms. Nothing of nature’s value was wasted, even bark from the palms was used for door and window decoration or assembly. Recycled red brick made for artful walkways, and planks of teak wood, left over from the building of Captain Brett’s 20 meter trimaran, were cut and shaped to make the restaurant’s tables and chairs. The pleasant sense of ease one feels upon entering into Shibui Garden Bungalows is their way of wishing you a welcome and comfortable stay.

While Lombok is only a couple of hours by speed boat from Bali, it offers a back in time natural atmosphere. Much of Lombok is still untouched. For the rugged trekker it offers one and two day hikes into virgin forest. For easier day trips, Captain Brett can arrange a visit to the second highest volcano in Indonesia, the nearby crater lake and island’s most dramatic waterfall. A few minutes’ walk from the Shibui Bungalows is a dream cove, with long clean stretches of beach. Down the main road a bit is the Tanjun open market, great for taking photos, and on further along the winding mountain road, monkeys gather wishing to take picture for peanuts! For guests wanting a day of snorkeling, Our beach is 500 meters away from the accommodation, a short walk along a pleasant, tree lined pathway. While not isolated, the beach is never crowded and its gentle atmosphere is private and serene. Conveniently local boats travel to the Gili islands from this quiet cove giving access to the islands close to our location . Private trips can be arrainged. For the more adventurous, we offer Eco Adventure hiking trips to mountain coffee plantations and remote waterfalls. A unique cultural experience.
