We are looking forward to welcoming you to Marianne Cottage at Johnsfort House. This recently renovated stone cottage is cosy and inviting especially with the sun shining on the patio or the stove lit inside. The exposed stone walls, limestone hearth and deep blue painted walls are just some of the features of this beautiful cottage in the heart of The Boyne Valley.

We are Richard and Bairbre. We hope you like Marianne Cottage. We love the space and the character it has. We hope you like it too and we look forward to showing you around. You will have complete privacy in your cottage. We live about 15 metres from the cottage and are always available if there are problems or if you just need info about anything.

Clonmellon is centrally located and an ideal base for exploring Ireland. We are just 1 hour from Dublin and 2 hours from Galway. The stunning cairns on Lough Crew are just a 20 min drive away as are Lough Crew Gardens. Killua Castle in on the outskirts of the village of Clonmellon and the grounds are open on a Saturday. Here you will see their herds of deer, moiled cattle and jacob sheep. Kells and Trim are both historic towns with maps available for self guided walks. Clonmellon is a small village built on a wide street in a rural community with two convenience stores, a chipper, a Chinese restaurant and a cafe. Nearby towns of Kells and Athboy have supermarkets, hotels and a large range of pubs and restaurants. You will need a car. There is a bus to Dublin from the village a couple of times a day. There is an excellent bus service in nearby Kells that will get you to Dublin in approximately 1 hour and will also bring you to Donegal in the other direction! We have super roads in the area for cycling with undulating hills and an abundance of interesting sites if you wish to bring bikes. We can provide routes and maps and a secure shed for locking up, repairing or for cleaning your bikes.
