Bell Villa is an incredible family home in the heart of Kodai. The Lake is just a three minute drive away, making the location ideal for any family to enjoy the variety of activities that the misty hilltop town has to offer. Built in the 1950s, the heritage property was built in solid granite stone quarried from the same hillside location. This makes Bell Villa have great insulation and warmth during any cold spell. The stream from Bear Shola falls runs adjacent to the house for almost 200 metres, making the sound of running water quintessentially Kodai. Bell Villa was intended to be a resort by its previous owners, but it is now the family home of the Bell Pins group of companies and based in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The villa has 3 bedrooms, a back office and drivers' accommodation with two beds. With level parking for 4 large cars, there is also a bonfire pit in the front along with comfortable benches for relaxation in the open space at dawn or dusk. A large landscaped garden on multiple levels adorns the back of Bell Villa as a private space for the residents, complete with bees buzzing over our Californian poppies, Orange and Pear trees and multitude of lilies and other flowering plants. Two gardeners, two property management staff and two cooks are available anytime to cater to your needs including with assistance to purchase anything from groceries to helping with travel arrangements. Bell Villa is our family’s holiday home. My children and I have always dreamed we could migrate across the country or overseas with ease as the Americans or Australians do! Schools and their schedules always come in our way! Although we don't live in Kodaikanal, Bell Villa is our perfect getaway whenever we can. We live just 150 km away, and try to visit as much as we can to develop the villa- as we only decided in 2025 to rent it out for short stays. During the pandemic, we got stuck in Kodaikanal by surprise! What was intended as a two-day holiday went all out as a full blown 2 month vacation. To stay busy, I employed 22 suddenly-unemployed local people to work on renovating and landscaping the long neglected property. Bell Villa transformed to become our second home and that season was an incredible dream holiday for us- enjoying the pristine silence of hills, the mist, the slowly bubbling stream next to the villa and the magic of birdsong as the golden sunrays light up the hills in a last goodbye every dusk. As a family, we travel extensively across the world and we understand the needs of discerning families deserving a great family vacation. Bear Shola forest is just about a hundred yards away. However, the forestry department often shuts down tourist access to the forest. You will however have a treat by just walking down the road opposite to Bell Villa. The hundred-year old pine trees have a special fragrance and silence that is incredible. Time seems to stand still in the mornings as you take a stroll. Most properties around Bell Villa are large bungalows that extend for miles, and so the charm of a true Kodai stroll is felt within minutes of leaving the house. The neighbourhood also has a large pear orchard facing the windows of all our bedrooms that attracts wildlife and birds, probably the last of its kind in the heart of Kodai. Framed by hybrid flowers from our garden, you will be able to see pristine natural settings opposite to the house, across the Bear Shola falls stream. Of late, because of poor local regulations, a few locals are using the stream water to clean their cars and thereby muddying up the pristine stream with cleaning agents and pollutants. We do our part by paying corporation workers extra to clean up the stream from time to time.
