Firstly, Ignazio was a wonderful host- when we let him know we’d be late for check in (as the rail replacement bus drove straight past our stop)! Him and his wife came and picked us all up with out any problem (all 10 of us!). As for the property...

Company information

We are a family and a passionate team who dreams of reviving the structure in Belgirate on Lake Maggiore in the1800 building where the old Hotel Borromeo was placed and steadily year after year continues to improve it by bringing it back to its old splendor in contemporary form, offering and willing to share with guess an unforgettable experience going beyond just hospitality.

Property information

After the construction of the Napoleonic road (1806), Belgirate became a coaching inn of care services for the Sempione. The building that housed it became the Hotel Borromeo, one of the first of vergantina lake side, which now no longer exists as such. It is easily recognizable in the long building that faces the street and boasts, at the top, a curved cornice, the kind that the architect Defendente Vanini used to put in the buildings he designed. Around the seventies of the nineteenth century the hotel had to undergo extensive renovations until assuming that aspect imposing and refined found in the advertising images of those years, becoming almost a symbol of hospitality of Belgirate. Here lived for some time the painter Max de Fichard, and later Martelli and Fiume Families, to which belongs the famous painter Guido Fiume, which was responsible for the restoration of some paintings in the "old church." of Belgirate.

Neighbourhood information

Belgirate was a favorite place of famous writers and well-known characters of the Risorgimento who appreciated the calm and quiet air healthy. Today fascinates with a succession of villas, mansions and manicured parks, evokes the nearby Stresa, worldly lakeside health resort, rich in cultural attractions and the Borromean Islands. For golf lovers, a choice of eight prestigious clubs in the area. for sailors centuries of tradition - just in Belgirate took place the first regattas on the lake. The lake is right outside the house has at different times of the day is hours of calm that hour in the morning, wind suitable for practicing sailing (sailing, wind surfing) Innumerable and very well known tourist attractions are in the surrounding area: Stresa, Lake Maggiore and its villas, Lake Orta, Milan, Turin, The train of 100 valleys from Intra in Locarno, Numerous and diversified activities are possible ranging from water sports in the vicinity (swimming, sailing, windsurfing, diving, boat rental, canoeing ...) to the mountains with nice summer trips in adjacent areas (Mottarone, Valgrande, Macugnaga under Mount Rosa) and the possibility of skiing in the winter on Mottarone.
