Discover the ultimate retreat in Trepalle, Livigno, where contemporary luxury meets alpine charm in Europe’s highest continuously inhabited village. Nestled in breathtaking surroundings, Baita Zelda offers a peaceful escape and a perfect base for your mountain adventures. Perched 2,200 meters above sea level, this chalet boasts stunning views of the valley below and the Passo di Foscagno above. Located close to shops, supermarkets, and a ski lift, it provides convenient access to the duty-free delights of Livigno, whether you're skiing, hiking, or mountain biking. The recently built chalet reflects the traditional Alta Valtellina style, featuring natural wood and stone finishes. Positioned on the hillside, it offers an idyllic vantage point for the picturesque landscape. Inside, the chalet houses five uniquely designed apartments, ranging from cozy studios to spacious accommodations for larger groups. Each unit is furnished in a modern style and equipped with all essentials for a relaxing stay. Apartment 5 accommodates 8–12 guests, while Apartments 1, 3, and 4 are ideal for 4–6 guests. Apartment 2, a shared studio, provides a budget-friendly option for solo travelers or small groups, accommodating 2–6 guests. Guests in the shared studio can enjoy a communal vibe, with the option to socialize with the host and fellow travelers. Rental prices are composed of the nightly rates, cleaning fee and taxes, made clearly transparent on our listing. About the optional linens and towels fee (that offers guests a saving opprtunity), please find these details on our 'Fine Print' descriptions. Whether you're here to carve through pristine slopes while skiing or snowboarding, trek breathtaking alpine trails, or enjoy exhilarating summer biking and cross-country cycling, there’s no shortage of activities to make your trip unforgettable. Livigno offers so much more beyond its outdoor adventures. Explore the town's unique duty-free shopping, where you can indulge in great deals on luxury items, souvenirs, and local delicacies. Marvel at the area’s geomorphology, shaped by centuries of glacial activity, and enjoy the serene beauty of its high-altitude setting at 2,200 meters above sea level. When it’s time to relax, Livigno boasts a vibrant selection of bars and restaurants, perfect for unwinding after an active day. Savor traditional Valtellina cuisine, warm up with a glass of mulled wine, or mingle with friendly locals and fellow travelers. As your host, I’m here to help you make the most of everything this enchanting destination has to offer. Whether it’s recommending the best ski runs, scenic spots, shopping tips, or cozy dining experiences, I’ll ensure your stay is as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Livigno is a place where adventure, relaxation, and culture come together, and I’m excited to share its wonders with you!
Livigno boasts a fascinating history that reflects its remoteness and the resilience of its people. Situated at the heart of Europe’s alpine roof, Livigno is geographically unique. The river Spöl, a tributary of the Danube, originates in the valley, while the Rhine, another of Europe’s great rivers, begins nearby in Switzerland's Engadine Valley. Until the 1960s, Livigno was largely cut off during winter months, with its high altitude and brief summers making agriculture a challenge. Historically subordinate to Bormio, Livigno’s determined efforts to build an international reputation as an eco-tourism destination have transformed its fortunes. Today, Livigno’s population surpasses that of Bormio, a testament to its growth and development. Its isolated location and distinctive geography secured Livigno tax privileges as far back as the Middle Ages, and it continues to enjoy duty-free status to this day. Despite being one of the most remote places in Europe, with the nearest airport 200 kilometers away, Livigno’s seclusion is integral to its charm. The exceptional hospitality of its residents only enhances its appeal. Over the past three decades, significant changes have shaped Livigno. The town center now sees more traffic, although large pedestrianized zones provide respite. A construction boom has occurred, but the architecture remains harmonious, with many historic buildings beautifully preserved. Meanwhile, Trepalle, with its small parish of just 500 residents, has retained its distinct and timeless atmosphere, offering a glimpse into a way of life that has changed far less over time.
