Nestled in a quiet piazza 'Il Mirtilllo' is one of ten houses that make up this ancient square, the oldest part of Chianni village. The Church of San Donato, dominates the piazza and has origins dating back to the 13th century. The house dating back to around 17th century, has maintained it's character of wooden beams, tiled floors and ceilings. The decor is true to it's Tuscan origins of painted plaster walls in traditional colours. Modern appliances compliment this delightful old house . The house has two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other two single beds that can be made into a double bed if required. The house has modern appliances, central heating and an air conditioning unit on the landing. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with a low level toilet and bidet. The house has an ironing board and iron. A self service launderette is nearby, but I am happy to offer a quick laundry service for a small fee, if required. The nearest large supermarket can be found in La Rosa about 7 km away. Free wi-fi is included. Guests staying at Il Mirtillo have access to a nearby swimming pool in the village of Rivalto, 1.5 km away.

I moved to Italy from England a while ago. I have a passion for photography and the rolling Tuscan hills are a dream come true to any photographer. I have used this web site on many occasions when travelling to book accommodation and now I look forward to returning the compliment to other travellers wishing to stay in Tuscany. Chianni is a medieval town with Etruscan origins. The village has two café/bars, two mini-markets, a butchers, a flower shop, Tabacchi and a small hardware store. The post office is open until 13.45 pm Monday – Saturday. A gift shop and a pasta shop selling delicious homemade pasta, made on the premises can also be found, along with a cash point which is near to the tourist information office. The village has three good restaurants, with many others a short drive away. The town has been known for years for its olive growing, the extra virgin olive oil of Chianni was created here, an oil with intense colour, a low level of acidity and a fruity flavour. The forests of Chianni and the surrounding areas are home to the wild boar, every second and third weekend of November the oldest food festival in Tuscany is held, where you can taste wild boar dishes and other specialities of the local cuisine. The village is served by a local bus that connects other local villages to Pontedera. From Pontedera station most nearby Italian cities and land marks can be reached. Pisa is a 10 minute train ride, Florence around 45 minutes. There is a large car park next to the bus station if you drive
