This charming residence, belonging to the noble family P. Libardi di Kreuzfeld, was built between 1920 & 1923, in the Borgo Trento district, between the Garibaldi & Catena bridges. The client Giacomo Basevi entrusted the project to the architect Ettore Fagiuoli, famous for his Art Nouveau works including the famous mausoleum by Cesare Battisti on the Doss Trento hill which was inaugurated in 1935 in attendance of King Vittorio Emanuele III of Savoy. During the Nazi occupation in 1943, the villa was requisitioned by General Wolff's troops, who transformed into the SS headquarters. Still Today, the bunker built to escape the bombings of the allies is a tangible testimony of those tumultuous times. After the war, the villa experienced multiple lives: it was a medical-surgical clinic and a clinical analyses laboratory, before being faithfully reported in the last decade to its original state during a meticulous period of conservative renovation, cared for with passion by the family.
