After nearly 8 years of painstaking work The Proud Garden is nearing completion. The final touches are being made and we are excited to be able to start welcoming guests from this summer.

Property information

The Proud Garden is located in the Southern Italian region of Puglia. This is the very heel of the Italian boot, a region famous for its food, its wine and its traditions. We are blessed with tourists in the summer months. But Puglia is a far cry from the more sterilised tourist hot spots of the north. There is wonderful architecture, pristine beaches, fantastic food, great wine and a very real flavour of Italian life. Set within 5 acres of Olive Groves most of the land is as its always been, a working olive farm producing very high quality organic oil. In and around the house we have created a number of garden ‘rooms’ reflecting the Mediterranean climate of the region.With just 5 suites The Proud Garden is somewhere to escape the pressures of the modern world. We offer stylish and unique accommodation but without the stuffiness sometimes found in properties of a similar standard. We want you to relax and feel at home.

Neighbourhood information

Our local town of Carovigno is 2.5 miles away and is a very typical southern Italian town. Being a working town there is life year round. It has a sleepy historic centre, a castle, a full range of shops and enough bars and restaurants to suit all tastes, pizza to michelin star. Ostuni is just a little further away but definitely the star of the region. The old town comprises a jumble of winding cobbled streets leading up to the Cathedral sitting on top of the hill. A fantastic place to wander around and get lost. Again there are a large number of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. Ostuni can get very busy in July and August especially late in the evening. But there is no binge drinking culture here. The streets and squares fill with people of all ages seeing and being seen. There are a number of other towns in the area worth a visit. Particularly Martina Franca for its baroque architecture and the nearby Locorotondo considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. There’s an incredible amount to see and do in our local area but if you do want to travel further afield…
