Via Gramsci 129... For those who have been coming to S. Teodoro for many years, this little white house hidden among the trees and behind a blue gate has always had something of a fairy tale about it ("Snow White's House" it was called in the 1980s by some little girls of the time). And it is indeed true: "la casetta", as we call it, has a round shape, perhaps reminiscent of the home style of Tolkien's hobbits, even if it is particularly bright due to the many windows. La casetta is completely white, with the typical lines of holiday hauses on the Costa Smeralda in the 1960s. The sinuous curves of the walls and some of the architectural elements inside recall the undulating harmonies of the granite rocks of Gallura, the colours of the furnishings and floors recall the island's crystal clear sea. Two entrances lead on from the street, one for pedestrians and one for cars, for which there is an open parking space in the garden. About 50 metres up the road there is another free parking space. The house has a large front veranda with a curved red tile roof resting on a framework of red juniper beams and poles. The veranda opens onto a large garden. The garden grows mainly local plants: small maritime Oaks, a lemon tree, an apricot tree, pomegranate trees, several myrtle, laurel, strawberry and lentisk bushes, some sage plants, rosemary and the fragrant helichrysum. In the winter months and when it rains a lot, there is also a nice green lawn. In front of the veranda there is a small stone fountain (useful for washing the sand off your feet when you come back from the beach) and a large brick oven.

We are Laura and Stefan, a German-Italian couple and we live in southern Germany, but when we can we visit 'our' island, which we are in love with and know very well. We are sensitive to the environment and sustainability and wanted to keep the simple and authentic character of the house we have owned for about a year, recycling old objects and furniture from the houses of our Sardinian grandmothers. If you are looking for luxury and modernity, this house is not for you. If you appreciate the elegance of simplicity, brightness and space, then you will definitely find yourself at home. We suggest you don't miss the morning hours, bring a yoga mat (don't forget the mosquito spray!) and practise on the veranda in front of which you can admire the golden sunrise. You are welcome!

The original name of the village of San Teodoro is, in Sardinian-Gallurese: Santu Diadòru de Oviddé. It is a small town of a little over 3,000 inhabitants, many of them foreigners who have decided to move to this lovely place for the simple life in the midst of enchanting nature and a consistently mild climate. From the end of June until about mid-September, the tranquillity of the village is certainly affected by tourism, which reaches its highest peaks from mid-July to the end of August. A popular destination for young people, San Teodoro turns into a centre of movida, thanks to the presence of clubs, restaurants, ice-cream parlours, cafés, bars and discos. The two squares inside the town, like the small alleys that surround them, are transformed every night from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. into a picturesque and bright market offering everything: handicrafts, clothing, goldsmiths, traditional food. The Costa Dorata, of which San Teodoro is a part, is full of wonderful beaches and coves, but the mountainous part of Padru is also interesting for walking or horse riding. The food is fantastic all over the island. We recommend staying in the town for fish dishes, but to get away to some agriturismo if you want to try the typical cuisine of this part of Sardinia. An agritourismo in the midst of multicentenary oaks is about a 15-minute drive behind Padru, it is called Casteddu, check it out and book it, especially in summer it is difficult to find a place. Also from an archaeological point of view, Sardinia has a lot to offer. You will find a lot of information on the web and in tourist guides, we recommend a nuragic site that is particularly close to our heart, fascinating and mysterious, located in the middle of a cork oak forest and studded with granite boulders. It is called 'Su Romanzesu' and is located in the surroundings of Bitti. The best artisan ice-cream parlour in San Teodoro: BM&V. The creamy dark chocolate is outstanding.
