Mike and Keiko fell instantly in love with Yakushima and it’s many attractions and decided to settle here 2 years ago. The 9 to 10 months of summer and unspoiled beaches and coastline combined with the magical mountains, forest and hiking make it an almost unbelievable paradise.
Property information
Our house is a comfortable mix of traditional Japanese architecture and modern western style. It’s basically next door to the Hirauchi Kai chu Onsen which is a famous natural outdoor hot spring on the south coast. Don’t miss the chance to sit under the stars and relax with your friends or family in this iconic Japanese setting. The house is easy to find, but very private - nestled on 2 hectares with a garden, own forest and 2 two rivers.
Neighbourhood information
Our house is on the warm and dry south coast of the island. Although charming it is relatively far from the main centers and most popular hiking areas. There are beaches, waterfalls and other interesting hiking trails close by. The world heritage forest road around the west coast is easily accessed from our house. There is a small local store within walking distance and a supermarket and restaurants only 7 km away in the nearest township of Onoaida.
