Exclusive Whole-House Rental in Okaya, Nagano
Experience a unique, private stay at our beautifully renovated, century-old Kominka (traditional Japanese farmhouse). Your host, Wakamiya Koji-ya, is a distinguished miso and koji producer with 140 years of history.

Type: Exclusive Whole-House Rental (One Group Per Day).
▶Capacity: Max 9 guests (Recommended 6–8 people).
▶Children aged 5 and under stay free when sharing a bed (no extra bedding provided).
Extra bedding set available for 4,000 e per night (Please request in advance).
▶Layout: Living/Dining Room, Kitchen, Two Bedrooms (tatami rooms floor mattresses), Washroom, Toilet (Washlet), Shower Room (No bathtub), Laundry Room.
▶Check-in and Booking
Check-in: Self-check-in (No permanent manager). Mandatory submission of the guest register is required.
▶Parking: 3 free spots on site.

▶Internet: Wi-Fi provided.
▶Kitchen: Fully equipped (Refrigerator, Rice cooker, Microwave, Kettle, IH). Basic seasonings provided (Salt, Oil, Soy Sauce, and our Miso, etc.). All cookware (Frying pan, Knives, etc.) and tableware are available for the max capacity (including children's dishes).
▶Laundry: 14kg washer/dryer and detergent available. (Recommended for long stays).
▶Entertainment: Projector (for NETFLIX only), Mini-billiards. No conventional TV.
▶Winter Feature: Wood-burning stove (Seasonal; one day's worth of firewood included; additional firewood 2,000en/load).
▶Toiletries: Towels (one set per person; not provided for children under 5), toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion/milk. (Please bring your own nightwear/pajamas.)
▶Bathroom: 2024 reformed shower booth (No bathtub).

Handmade Miso Making Experience (4,000en/person): Approx. 60 min. workshop including a factory tour, making approx. 2.5kg of handmade miso or 1kg of white Kyo-miso. (Contact us at least 3 days prior to stay.)

Okaya City is ideally situated for very convenient access to the excellent hot spring towns of Shimosuwa and Kamisuwa.
▶Hot Spring Access
Shimosuwa Onsen (Shimosuwa): Located just a few minutes from the property (via Okaya Station on the JR Chuo Line), Shimosuwa is known for its historic hot spring district. After visiting the Suwa Grand Shrine Shimosha (Lower Shrine), we highly recommend relaxing at a public bath loved by the locals.
▶Onsen within 10 min. drive from the property: Romanet, Yagi Onsen, Koyu, Tanga no Yu, and others.
▶Kamisuwa Onsen (Kamisuwa): Located about 20 minutes by car from the property, Kamisuwa features a scenic hot spring area sprawling along the shores of Lake Suwa. After a lakeside stroll, you can relax by soaking your feet in a free footbath (ashiyu).
