My love for travel and culture has shaped not only who I am, but how I welcome guests. Though I now split my time between Sri Lanka and Australia, it’s Galle Fort that truly feels like home, and I return to it every few months. At Seven Pillars Galle Fort, I’ve poured that global perspective and personal passion into creating a villa experience that’s both unique and unforgettable. This 17th-century Dutch colonial townhouse is more than just a place to stay—it’s a labour of love. I’ve personally curated each detail of the property, from the Dutch-period antique furniture, the Buddhist-inspired art that adorns the walls, lotus flowers in vases, and the sounds of flute music you wake up to each morning, to create an elegant and tranquil space to relax and unwind in. My family’s roots in Galle go back generations, to ancestors involved in the Dutch East India Company and early community development. Today, that spirit lives on not just in the villa, but in our outreach work through “Seven Pillars Gives Back,” supporting local families and small businesses. For over ten years, it’s been our joy to welcome guests into this special corner of the world. Our dedicated team, made up of long-serving staff from Galle itself, brings soul and authenticity to everything they do—from daily breakfasts lovingly prepared and presented beautifully, to helping you discover the best of the Fort. Seven Pillars.Galle Fort is located mid-way along Lighthouse Street, in historic Galle Fort, just 150 metres from the grass-topped western-facing ramparts ,the cove beach and a further 200 metres from the town’s famous international test cricket stadium. The fort is a UNESCO world heritage site and dates back over 400 years; a walk along its narrow cobbled streets reveals the fascinating hybrid architecture of three colonial eras – fretwork-fringed and pillarred Dutch abodes, British-era monuments, ochre-hued spice warehouses and interesting museums showcasing the fort’s rich history. There are many restaurants and cafes, as well as boutiques selling handicrafts, delicate lacework, glittering gems and other evocative souvenirs. Within 15 kilometres are a selection of mesmerising beaches, tranquil lagoons and historic temples.
