Lion Shade Tourist Bungalow is an SLTDA (Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority) approved property, offering the perfect setting for a single family or group of up to seven guests to enjoy the comfort of the entire fully furnished home and its beautiful garden surroundings. Located in the quiet little village of Kahalla, Katugastota, our bungalow is just 3 km from Kandy City. You can easily reach us either by your own vehicle via Katugastota Station Road, by train—crossing the historic steel bridge over the Mahaweli River from Katugastota Railway Station—or by a direct bus from Katugastoa Madawala main road. Our bungalow blends the charm of Kandyan-style antique furnishings with modern conveniences. Each room is designed with traditional architectural ventilators and protected with mosquito screens, ensuring both comfort and authenticity. Guests can enjoy a modern family bathroom with hot and cold shower, as well as an additional separate toilet for extra convenience. I am Bandula, a Civil Engineer by profession. More recently, I turned my attention to something very close to my heart—transforming our old family home in Kandy into a welcoming space where families like yours can feel at home while exploring the beauty of Kandy and the many other attractions across Sri Lanka. Since Kandy is in the heart of the island, it’s the perfect base for planning your sightseeing and traveling around the country with ease. When I’m not hosting, I enjoy listening to music, reading, taking leisure walks, playing cricket, and spending time with close friends. Hosting brings me the same joy—it allows me to meet wonderful people and help them create lasting memories in Sri Lanka.
