What is the history of Czech „tropical garden“ in Sri Lanka? In 2001 we traveled with backpacks through this beautiful island and in the end enjoyed some rest on the Indian ocean coast, on a marvellous lonely beach. This was the place where our plan began – to build a place to go for holiday, to escape from rush and stress of our working duties and hectic life. Sri Lanka was not visited by many tourist for years due to the civil war in the north of the island. We were one of the first Czech tourists coming. Now the war is over, the island survived the devastating tsunami as well and became a popular place for exotic holiday. After a few years of construction we finished our dream in 2010 – two bungalows Tropical Garden for unusual holiday. In the period when we are not present in Sri Lanka, we offer the bungalows for rent.

Tropical Garden offers accommodation in two bungalows located in a large garden (2 000 m2). Most of the plot is not built up and you can enjoy its peace for relaxation. Sunbeds and hammocks are at your disposal. In the small bungalow there is one double room with beautiful sea view, with bathroom, balcony and kitchenette. On the first floor of the bigger bungalow there are two rooms with bathrooms, big balcony and kitchenette. The rooms can be rented separated or as a suite. There is a lovely view of the sea and lagoons from the balconies. One room is available on the ground floor, with terrace. This room is smaller, with a 140 cm wide double bed. A big advantage which will definitely be appreciated in hot climate, is the possibility to use the kitchenettes with refrigerators. The kitchenettes are equipped with refrigerators, cookers, utensils and electric kettles.

We will be happy to arrange a cooking class of Srilankan cuisine for you, a typical Srilankan breakfast or rice and curry in Tropical Garden, surfing or a boat trip to the near lagoon for birds watching. There are local restaurants in close surroundings, all of which can be recommended. Tangalle offers inexhaustible number of activities and trips: - walks and swimming on long lonely sand beaches - beautiful beaches Goyambokka and Pallikaduwa with safe swimming and possibilities of delicious lunch right on the beach (15 minutes by tuk-tuk) - two swimming pools in nearby resorts - massage at Anke´s place (neighbouring house) - night trip to Rekawa for turtle watching - birds watching at sunset in lagoons - visit to snake farm - whale-watching boat trip - kayaking in lagoons - trip to Mulkirigala – Buddhist rock temple dating back to 3rd century BC with rich wall paintings - Blow Hole – sea geyser, approx. 7 km west of Tangalle
