Originally built by Fito, an artist and sailor, OMA began as a personal retreat nestled in the heart of the Caribbean jungle. Fito poured his creativity and love into every detail, creating a magical space adorned with unique sculptures, including the iconic snakes that gave the property its original name, "La Casa de las Serpientes" (The House of the Snakes). In 2015, Fito built a traditional Temazcal (Mexican sweat lodge), inviting shamans and healers to conduct sacred ceremonies. Over time, this artistic refuge transformed into a healing center, attracting individuals seeking a place for spiritual and personal growth. By 2022, it evolved into OMA Holistic Healing Center, offering modern, comfortable accommodations alongside its vibrant history and sacred energy. The name "OMA" was chosen to honor the ancestral energy; In the Temazcal, the hot stones used in ceremonies are lovingly referred to as "Abuelitas" (Grandmothers), symbolizing the wisdom and energy of our ancestors. The grandchildren of the family, who are half Dutch, call their grandmother "OMA". To honor her and the ancestral spirit of the place, we named the center OMA. Over time, the name has also evolved to represent our mission: Open Mind, Master Body, Awaken Spirit. Today, OMA combines the creativity of its artistic roots with the care and dedication of a family passionate about healing.
