Selvista Guesthouses is a jungle luxury collection of guesthouses on Isla de Ometepe. The island is a lush and tropically forested UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the middle of Lake Nicaragua, the largest lake in Central America. Named for the Spanish "selva" (jungle) and "vista" (view), our unique site boasts incredible panoramic views of Volcán Concepción and Lake Nicaragua. Relaxing in hammocks, glimpsing howler monkeys, sipping on coconuts, savoring the delicious farm-fresh breakfasts, and enjoying incredible sunsets is what characterizes our guests' stays. **Please read property descriptions thoroughly to know what to expect from your stay. We also send a detailed message with instructions on how to access the house upon booking. Please check correspondance carefully to ensure a seamless trip.**
Designer, plant explorer, trail runner, foodie, ecological builder and developer, dog lover, farmer. I am originally from New Jersey, USA but have lived and worked in Nicaragua for over a decade. Over the past 18 years I have completely reforested and developed my farm property on Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua. Together with my local team we welcome guests to 6 houses & suites in a peaceful tropical forest, just walking distance from exploring town, hiking a volcano, and swimming in the lake. At Selvista Guesthouses we look forward to sharing with you the BEST "jungle luxury" experience on Ometepe.
My 1-hectare (2.5-acre) Selvista Guesthouses property features a total of 5 guesthouses with a central open-air kitchen. It is located next to a 9-hectare (22.5-acre) educational organic farm called Project Bona Fide. The entire site has been completely reforested over the past 20 years. You can find many trails, tropical fruits, plants, trees, butterflies, birds, and monkeys throughout the property. The organically grown greens garden below the kitchen features spinaches, salad greens, herbs and hot peppers. The property at large includes chickens and ducks (enclosed area), pigs (enclosed area), coconuts, bananas, mango, jackfruit, breadfruit, starfruit, canistel, and many other exotic species to learn about and explore and a plant nursery to purchase from. We have a restaurant on-site for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Local restaurants and small grocery stores in the town of Balgüe are a 15-20 minute walk from the property. After dark, from 6:30 onwards, be sure to have a flashlight to assist you on the private driveway and along the unlit 5-minute stretch between our farm entrance and the well-lit, populated main part of town.
