We’re Matthijs and Hesther, and for many years we dreamed of having our own holiday home, a place where guests can instantly feel at home. When we discovered Ruinerwold, it was love at first sight: the peace, the nature, the authenticity, the sense of space, the central location, and the charming nearby town of Meppel. From the farmhouse, you can step straight into the Drenthe countryside, ideal for cycling and walking. Within fifteen minutes, you’ll find beautiful nature reserves such as Dwingelderveld, Weerribben, Holtingerveld, and the Drents-Friese Wold. There’s plenty to discover in the area: Giethoorn, explore the “Venice of the North” by boat. Meppel and Steenwijk, charming towns with shops, cafés, and restaurants. Hunebeds, museums, local markets, and traditional farmhouses. Cycling and walking routes that start right from your doorstep. De Drentse Koe, a fun farm experience where children can play indoors and outdoors while you enjoy a fresh ice cream. After a day full of discoveries, return to the peace and quiet of De Boerstee.
