In the middle of the Green Heart of the Netherlands you will find the holiday cottage Groeten uit Hoogmade. The original thatched roof cottage fits perfectly in its natural environment. The traditional windmills, cows and the river are directly near the cottage. Due to the close vicinity of major Dutch cities and the airport, the holiday cottage is an ideal and quiet base for day trips. The cottage gives access to two terraces: one facing the old orchard, the other facing the river. The cottage provides a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, fridge, nespresso coffee machine and electric water kettle and all other equipment necessary for self catering. The cottage is heated by floor heating. A fire place, including fire wood, will give a nice and comfortable heat in the colder months. The mezzanine provides a comfortable sleeping area, catering for two persons. With two other beds available in the main living area. The living area has been furnished with modern design, some of which manufactured by the owner. After swimming in the river you can enjoy the outdoor (and warm) shower.

As an interior designer and a furniture artist, I have enjoyed making this place like feeling at home. The combination of design furniture, industrial elements and items made by me represents my style. The cottage is close to our house, so I am available if you have any questions or requests. The cottage gives access to the large garden with old fruit trees. Sitting on the terrace you can enjoy the cows and sheeps in de meadows, with the original Dutch wind mills. In the evening you can enjoy the sunset, sipping your wine on the other terrace, overlooking the water and the boats sailing by. Birds will be swimming and flying all around you. The river provides direct access to the lakes Kaag en Braassem, ideal for all types of water sport. You can canoe, SUP or sail directly from the cottage. Motorised boat is for rent in the village. As the water of the river is really clean, swimming is a nice start of the day. En of course enjoy the hot outdoor shower afterwards. The cottage is located near a large variety of walking and biking routes. Both enjoyable for the recreational as wel as the more sporty walker/biker. The city centre of Leiden is only 5 km away. Leiden is known for its large variety of museuam, such as Volkenkunde, Boerhaave and the Lakenhal. Leiden has many nice shops and restaurants along the canals. In spring time it is wonderful to drive or bike through the tulip fields on your way to the wonderful beach.
