SWEETS hotel, first initiated in 2012 as an urban space project. 22 bridge houses are currently available for reservations, with more coming soon. SWEETS hotel is an initiative and co-creation of the architecture office Space&Matter (known for De Ceuvel, an ecological hub), project development partner Grayfield and Suzanne Oxenaar and Otto Nan, founders of Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy (the world’s first 1 to 5 star hotel) and Hotel The Exchange.

Squeezed in between two large green parks and many cafés, restaurants and shops, this exceptionally cosy hotel room in a bridge house is the perfect starting point to experience Amsterdam like a local. Get a sense of Amsterdam’s history from this 1940s tiny house in ‘Late Amsterdam School’ style, and cuddle up in the snug alcove bed – a peaceful retreat in the midst of the city’s daily rush. Take a scenic 25-minute walk through the Vondelpark from your hotel room for a visit to the Stedelijk Museum, Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum. Tram 11, departing around the corner, takes you to Museum Square and Amsterdam Centre in about 15 minutes. From 1947 to 2017, bridge house Overtoomsesluis accommodated Amsterdam’s bridge keepers. In 2017, the bridge house started a new chapter as one of SWEETS hotel's 28 hotel rooms. As with every SWEET, Overtoomsesluis’s interior is inspired by its architectural history. Starting at the well-known Leidseplein and continuing parallel to the Vondelpark, the Overtoom street is an important connection between Amsterdam Centre and Amsterdam West. Right at the end, you’ll find bridge house Overtoomsesluis. Whether you stay on the centre side or cross the bridge, the neighbourhood offers endless shopping, dining and nightlife possibilities – all at just a stone’s throw away. Walk or cycle through the Vondelpark to Museum Square or Leidseplein, or join the locals on a visit to the Foodhallen. Bad weather? There are multiple tram stops at just a few meters from your bridge house.
