Charmae Guest House is a large family home,(sleeping 8), close to the mighty Whanganui River and only a 15 min walk into the CBD. It comprises 1 double bedroom with en-suite, a 2nd bedroom with 2 single beds, and an annex with a further 2 single beds and bunks.These bedrooms share a 2nd bathroom with a separate toilet. It boasts free high speed broadband and WiFi through the entire house, and free Continental Breakfast for the first 2 nights stay.A large combined dining room and lounge makes this dwelling ideal for business meetings, family reunions and sports teams alike. There is a fully equipped kitchen and laundry but if it is not your thing on holiday there is a great array of cafes and quality restaurants close by .There is also a convenience store & takeaways next door. Charmae is child safe and we have a potacot and high chair available on site.

I (Kathy) have spent my entire life in Whanganui and Allan made the move from Auckland a few years ago when we tied the knot. . We share many interests and hobbies together including gardening and music. We both have a special passion for brass music and are both active members of the local brass band. Now that we are semi-retired, we have developed a new love for overseas travel and try to get away as much as possible to explore the world. This Guest House is located very close to the CBD, and many attractions in and around wanganui.The river itself is the longest navigable river in New Zealand, and offers jet boat tours and more gentler rides on the Waimarie paddle steamer, the last remaining in New Zealand.The river attracts cyclists, hikers ,canoeists,and day trippers. The Sarjeant Gallery holds more than 5,500 art works from the 1840's to the present day.The regional museum is famous for its Taonga Maori Collection, second to none in Aotearoa. There is the Durie Hill Elevator & Tower, Glass blowing exibitions & gallery ,Farmer's markets , mountain to sea cycle trails, observatory and much loved childrens play ground. Throughout the year there is the masters games, street motorcycle racing,V8 jet boat sprints, opera week, Vintage weekend where every thing from the bygone era is on display.
