Mælstrøm End is a tranquil piece of paradise in one of the most remote and beautiful parts of Aotearoa New Zealand. On this 35ha property, you get to look out over all of Mohua / Golden Bay, Onetahua / Farewell Spit and the Old Man Rock Range. It is only 5 minutes drive from world-class Wharariki Beach (famous from the Windows screensaver), and 2 minutes from Farewell Spit, NZ’s most precious bird sanctuary. The property boasts walks through bush, forest, paddocks and epic views - including of the Milky Way without light pollution. You may be accompanied by the friendly goats or miniature donkeys on your rambles. There are also tame Muscovy ducks, chickens, cats and a giant friendly white wolf, as well as 50 cows. You will stay in your own luxury cabin, with your own entrance to the shared bathroom.

We are a husband & wife team that left Aotearoa's Capital to fulfill our dream of living in peace, with nature, surrounded by happy beasts, both feathered and furry. We both work from home, Sea as an environmental scientist and Karl as a UX Designer. We also run our mini farm, and are developing our land into an eco community. We are passionate about the environment, and love music and board games.

Other than Wharariki Beach and Farewell Spit, it’s about a 20min drive to beautiful Whanganui / Westhaven Inlet and Kaihoka Lakes. Keep going and you end up on the epic Westcoast. Another 20mins in a different direction, and you’ll get to Bainham, Rockville, the Salisbury Falls and the start of one of NZ's great walks, the Heaphy Track. We’re surrounded by Golden Bay’s golden beaches and the second-largest national park, Kahurangi. We are only 10 minutes drive from two local cafes (the Old School in Pakawau and the cafe at Wharariki Holiday Park). The world-famous Mussel Inn (one of NZ's premiere live music venues) is a 25 minute drive. Charming Tākaka township is 40 minutes drive, and in an hour you’ll end up in the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park.
