Ōkāreka Lakestay Retreat
The property is elevated with incredible views over the stunning Lake Ōkāreka. Sunrise and sunsets are next level, the deck is the perfect spot for a coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. The deck has a large outdoor kitchen with a bar, lounger, spa and path down to the lake. There is also a vege and herb garden you are welcome to use. If you want to cook more, the kitchen inside is large and has everything you'd need. The driveway is steep but plenty of parking at the top.
Michelle has lived at Lake Ōkāreka for the past six years and has travelled to over 55 countries, hosting guests from all over the world. She loves sharing her local knowledge and can provide plenty of tips on the best things to see and do in the area. Michelle and her family live in the main house but always respect guests’ privacy. They’re happy to help with anything you need or offer recommendations, while ensuring your stay at the retreat is peaceful and relaxing.
Tucked just 15 minutes from Rotorua, Lake Ōkāreka is a tranquil slice of paradise where clear waters meet bush-clad hills and quiet wetlands. Beloved for its family-friendly beaches, scenic walking tracks, and opportunities to swim, kayak, or fish, it’s a peaceful retreat that blends natural beauty with a warm community spirit.
