The Woolshed is in Papa Aroha, a small village 13km north of Coromandel township. We have converted the iconic woolshed into a comfortable living space and kept some of the rustic features. It has an open plan living space with two queen futon beds that can be folded back into sofas. Sleeping space for 2x couples or 2x singles in a shared space. Instead of a flush toilet, there is a compost toilet set among the trees. It has a proper toilet seat, not unpleasant but a little different if you haven't used one before. There is lime and sawdust, so odor is not an issue. There's plenty of room for parking cars and boats and pitching tents. Please discuss extra guests at the time of booking. From our experience, parties can end up with things being damaged, so please be responsible guests and not invite too many extras - happy for family/ small friend gatherings. We have air beds that can be used on request. Dogs welcome - though not on the furniture. fully fenced section. Great for children and creative types who love nature!

We've planted thousands of native trees as well as edibles over the last few years to encourage biodiversity, healthy land, and clean water. We have possum and rat traps over the land and have noticed trees returning to health. This is a work in progress that we are passionate about.

Excellent spot for fishing trips, those needing a retreat/ sanctuary, family time. There's a small shop down the road at Papa Aroha Campground where you can buy supplies and groceries. Our favorite beaches are: Torehina (little Waititi) 10 minutes north and Oamaru Bay is a safe beach for swimming. Papa Aroha beach (north of the campground by the walkway) is great, too. High tide is best for swimming.
