Guerrera is for foodies, naturalists and those who prefer the road less traveled. Food: We won't sugarcoat it--the Philippines is not and probably will never be a foodie destination. Guerrera is. Chefs, and foodies know it and they come all the way to remote Camiguin to see what's growing and what's cooking. The villas in fact were made for them. While we can set you up with more typical beach or island activities, we are all about cuisine and specialize in custom cooking classes. No matter where you are from or where you travel in Asia, you will struggle to find a place that allows you to explore as much of Asian culinary history as you will at Guerrera. Naturalists--So great, you can eat really well at Guerrera. But if that's not your thing, you can sit back and enjoy your view of our rice paddies, our black sand beach, white island, and volcanic mount hibok hibok. No other property on this island or any other has views quite like this Road less traveled--our rooms are meant to evoke a slower simpler time. Wooden shutters, spanish tiles, viet lanterns, custom features all around and very comfortable memory foam beds. We don't pamper, we let you savor life's rare moments.

Chef carmel--i studied professional Thai cuisine at le cordon bleu culinary institute in bangkok and am one of a handful of female filipina chefs running her own kitchen and dedicated to innovation. I am not here to make food that you can easily make at home or get anywhere in the world. Both my husband and I are well traveled and we tend to skip the temples, the selfies and water fountains in favor of the hardest-to-find food joints, and then find a way to learn something from everyone that is doing something interesting to us. What we make in our kitchen is a reflection of those experiences and if you are an adventurous diner, you're going to have a similar one. I run an open kitchen as we've got nothing to hide. When I am not cooking , which is not often, I watch basketball, do yoga, and enjoy hanging with my family--much of whom work with us at Guerrera. My husband and I are pretty good hosts but unlike in the kitchen, we're not pro's. We're getting better at it so let us know how we're doing if you come as our guest.

Camiguin is the anti-boracay to us. It is underdeveloped and quiet and still offers spectacular nature and an opening to see real people and real Filipinos. It's not going to last forever and in a couple more decades, mass tourism will probably be here too. What a bummer! We also live in the very shadow from an active volcano that has erupted consistently over the past four centuries and has in fact created our farm with its rich lava flow. So until either the next eruption comes or the mass invasion of tourism comes, we're going to enjoy our time on Camiguin-- and we invite you to do so as well!
