The property is owned and managed by private hosts with experience in managing accommodation. They are native Portuguese speakers and have an intermediate level of English and Spanish, with a good understanding of Italian. As guests, we have traveled extensively in different parts of the world to experience different places and cultures. As hosts, we want to offer our guests a pleasant, peaceful and welcoming place, but also an ideal starting point to discover the fantastic landscapes of São Miguel and the charms of Ponta Delgada. Íris House is located in the city of Ponta Delgada, in the parish of São Pedro, in a safe residential area. Free public parking is available on the street. It is 100 metres from public transport and local shops, and 300 metres from the Nautical Club, the city's harbour, the Casino Azores, the public swimming pool and the seafront promenade for pleasant walks and cycle rides along the sea. It is also close to some of the best restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries and pharmacies in the city. 300 metres away is the Ermida da Mãe de Deus (chapel), from the top of the hill with the same name, offering an excellent view of the city's port. 500 metres away is one of the main azorean pineapple plantation, where the fruit is traditionally grown in greenhouses and where you can taste an excellent product in its natural form, as juice, liqueur or jam. It's also just a few minutes' walk to Portas do Mar and the town center, where local shops are concentrated. In the summer months, the nightlife is permanent, with music shows, exhibitions and performances all over the city. There are many activities and places to visit throughout the island. The nearest beaches are approximately 3 kilometers (less than 2 miles) away, there are 2 golf courses, several options for nautical activities, hiking trails, walking, horseback riding, cycling and paragliding. Throughout the island you'll find natural lagoons, mountains and fantastic views over the tops of ancient dormant volcanoes, as well as the impressive thermal activity in the Furnas Valley. The parks and gardens are well maintained and the many museums around the island are a reminder of the rich Azorean culture. There is much to discover and experience in the Azores.
