The Škerlj family is bonded with the love of working on the estate and because we love our homestead so much, we decided to invite you to our Karst. We can show you the vineyard, the orchard, we can advise you where to go on a one-day trip, and if you like local dishes, we can prepare a wine tasting with local meat products. We will take you around the wine bar and one of the oldest vaulted, stone cellars in the Karst. We are proud of our heritage and have been trying to preserve it since 1788. Located on the outskirts of a small village Tomaj settled in the heart of a Kras wine region, Skerlj wine estate provides accomodation with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool with a stunning view over the vineyards. Offers a free parking, several outdoor sitting areas around the property and garden. At our 3 star guest house you can also have a glass of home produced wine, since our family is wine producer since 1788. All our rooms have private bathroom with a shower, free toiletries and a hair dryer. The two studios have a small kitchenette. Our new studio "SENIK" has a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher. “FAMILIA” room for 4 persons has a terrace and a balcony with a stunning views over the garden with a pool and vineyards, surrounding the property.

Tomaj is an idyllic village in the very center of the Karst and is an excellent starting point for hikers, cyclists, lovers of a good drop of wine and local food. The Kosovel path leads from Tomaj to Sežana, which is 7 km long (approx. 2.5 hours). It runs through the karst countryside, past vineyards, and with prior notice you can also visit Kosovel's homestead (Srečko Kosovel, Slovenian poet). The architecturally interesting church of St. Peter and Paul on the hill above the village was built in 1637 and where Tone Kralj painted frescoes at the end of the 20s of the 20th century. In Sežana, you can see a beautiful botanical garden. Only 15 kilometers from Tomaj are the Škocjan Caves, UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage, and even closer is Lipica with its world-famous Lipizzaner. It is less than an hour's drive to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, and to the Slovenian coast (Piran, Sečoveljske soline, Izola).., it takes half an hour to an hour's drive. Nearby, on the Italian side, is Trieste with its beautiful square, Piazza Unitá, Miramare Castle, and along the picturesque coastal road you can reach Sistiana and refresh yourself in the sea on the beach. The wonderful Rilke hiking path leads to Duino castle.
