Located within the Makhampom Art Space, spanning 4-acres (2-hectares), the Art House living experience offers numerous tranquil places to relax amidst the lakes and gardens, stunning vistas over the rice fields to the mountains, Chiang Dao’s diverse wildlife and starry starry nights, and the creativity of the Gooseberry Cafe-Gallery. Close to the Chiang Dao town, the Art House is also the ideal place to immerse yourself within the local community or explore the foothills of the majestic Doi Luang mountain and the fertile Ping River valley. The Star House is uniquely-designed, combining communal Thai-style living in the contemporary teak house upstairs and the cool hangout vibe of the mixed-material space below. There are four rooms in the Star House - West Room (2 beds), South Room (3 beds), North & East Rooms (4 beds each) - surrounding a tiled patio. Each room includes individual mattresses, pillow, bedding, mosquito nets and fans. The communal amenities block includes 6 bathrooms (3 upstairs, 3 downstairs) and a laundry area, with a washing machine. Star House guests can also freely use the microwave, fridge, and other facilities in The Hub, beside the Star House.

The Art House @ Chiang Dao is located in the Ping River valley surrounded by mountains and hills, home to ethnically-diverse uplands communities. Stepping out of the Art House, guests can enjoy the local Chiang Dao culture in every direction. A walk through the rice fields or a bike ride to the neighbouring Ban Dong & Tung Luk villages is a nice place to start, with the road across the Ping River leading into the Chiang Dao township, just 1.5km from the Art House @ Chiang Dao. The nearest convenience store is just 600 metres away. Feel the heartbeat of the Chiang Dao community at the (very early) morning market (1.5km) or enjoy a coffee at Kamp (1.6km) or the local brews of Hoklhong Cafe (3.4km). Lunch and dinner spots are readily found along Chiang Dao’s main road, with Monmo, King Crab, Star Shabu, and Chiang Dao’s famous khamu pork leg restaurant popular options. The Chiang Dao bypass and Chiang Dao cave areas offer a range of cuisine. And for nightlife, Cojon and the Mikrokosmos Craft Beer house good hangouts. The sprawling ‘travelling’ market takes over the main road in front of the bus station every Tuesday morning and don’t miss the walking street market every alternate Thursday evening, just walking distance from the Art House @ Chiang Dao. The Chiang Dao cave at the base of Doi Luang mountain is renowned both for its stunning environment but also revered as the site of the most important spirit of northern Thailand. The Doi Luang foothills are also home to hot springs, meditation temples, forest walks, and famous bird watching habitats. Several upland ‘hill tribe’ communities also welcome respectful visitors in the hills surrounding Chiang Dao.
