Unlike many lake houses, Summerscales has a large flat back yard where children can play and grown-ups can enjoy the spacious patio and fire pit by the lake. Being a new build, Summerscales, has many custom features such as a reclaimed wooden kitchen island, stained glass transom windows, hand distressed wood doors, unique imported tile work, and beamed ceilings. The immediate outdoor surroundings make you feel that you are deep in the mountains and indeed you are. Bald Mountain Lake provides the opportunity to fish, swim or get out on a paddle board or kayak without fear of speed boats running you down. From the front door you can walk to the nearby hiking trail that will take you 17 miles through the mountains with views of Lake Lure. But in less than a mile you can also have dinner at our two local restaurants, play a round of golf, mini golf, pickle ball, or tennis, go to the local spa or hold a fully catered wedding ceremony. So, it's the best of both worlds.

After living in northern England for 16 years, we moved back to the United States to Asheville North Carolina a few years ago. We still visit the UK annually and stay at our apartment in Harrogate, Kulla Loft, which we used to manage as a vacation rental but is now run by Host and Stay North Yorkshire. We recently realized a lifelong dream of building a lake house, Summerscales, in Lake Lure. Both being lovers of hiking, walking, and all things outdoors, it's a great spot for us to get together with our family and friends. We always enjoyed making guest feel welcome and comfortable at Kulla Loft and plan to bring the same great hospitality to Summerscales.
