Amy grew up in the Southport-Oak Island area and would bring John down often to visit the area and see family. It was always difficult to find a dog-friendly place though especially one centrally located. One day, they stumbled on this home for sale that was way too big for them but had great options to support guests. So they decided to move back down (from Raleigh) and start a bed and breakfast! Whiskey is a Shiz Tzu. They are naturally hypoallergenic and don't shed at all. He is almost 5 years old and does actually run the place! or at least has Amy trained. :-) His self-appointed job is to chase the squirrels in the back yard (and the neighborhood) He loves his job! He also loves to meet new people! Although John and Amy both still work full-time at other jobs, they work from home so are usually around for questions, directions or recommendations. We are a new Bed and Breakfast in downtown Southport. We are walking distance to the great dining, shopping and activities of Southport so no need to worry about driving or parking once you get here! We offer 4 rooms, each with their own bath. They are uniquely decorated in area themes of golf, beach, and boating. One room has a stand up shower the rest have shower/tub combinations. All the bathrooms have original tile floors with amazing patterns. Each one is unique in color and pattern. Original hardwood floors fill the rest of the house. The home features a small sunroom and a large screened in porch to take advantage of the beautiful yard and usually temperate weather. The Parlor is also a guest favorite with its jazz-themed decor. They offer a continental breakfast or there is an amazing coffee and breakfast place a block away. They also offer a happy hour with wine, local draft beer and locally made charcuterie boards. We allow pets for a nominal additional fee - 2 small dogs per room up to 30 lbs each.

We are located right next to downtown Southport. So many great restaurants, shoppes and activities are all within walking distance. Across the street is the Community Center, Fort Johnston, the Southport Maritime Museum and Visitors Center. If you're new to Southport it's the perfect place to get a quick overview of the history of the town as well learn all about the activities and events going on while you're here. Southport is still a small town and still rolls up the side-walk pretty early however we have 2 places nearby that are open to midnight and serve food until 10. (Moore St Oyster Bar and Royal James Rummary). Coming from 'big city' life, we frequent them often!
