The Jourdain family originates from France and has a rich history of winemaking and vineyard ownership; from the Loire Valley to the Provence region of southeast France; where after seven generations they still produce acclaimed wines in these regions. However the Jourdain name is not new to North Carolina winemaking. It has been almost 50 years since George Vanderbilt's grandson, William Cecil, brought over Philippe Jourdain from France to be Biltmore Estate's first winemaker. Philippe, which ran one of the family vineyards in Provence, was also a teacher of viticulture and oenology at the "Lycee Agricole" in Carcassonne and played an instrumental role in shaping what is today the Biltmore Winery.

The Chateau Jourdain vineyard in the Swan Creek area was established in 2019 after careful site scouting and then final selection of this land where you stand today. You can say it was love at first site. And although our humble property is a boutique sized vineyard this is exactly what we wanted, similar to small vineyards in France in where size is not what matters but quality. A unique Short-Term rental experience within the Vineyard of Chateau Jourdain. We have the privilege of being located within two American Viticultural Areas “AVA” (The Yadkin Valley AVA and The Swan Creek AVA) which provides a unique terroir suitable for growing exceptional wine grapes, and all within the backdrop of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains.
