Watauga Lake is home to some of the best fishing in Tennessee. There is also picnic and swimming area. Perfect on a summer afternoon. Also dog friendly. You can rent a boat or pontoon at the local marina. Laurel Falls is just up the road. A local hot spot during the summer. Two entrances one from the bottom the other from the top. This hike is very special. You can hear water on almost the entire hike. Roan Mountain another outstanding hike. Part of this hike I call the dark forest because the pine trees block out the sunlight. Bright green moss covers the rock. Truly stunning. Looking for more action no problem. Bristol Raceway just 30 minutes runs races and concerts all summer. Hard Rock Cafe and Casino in Bristol has many delightful restaurants and gambling. Right in downtown Elizabethton at the town square by the covered bridge has music, festivals every weekend for free! Just bring a chair and enjoy the show. The entire surrounding townships has festivals and music every weekend.
