Company information

Your stay at The Norumbega would be hosted by our dedicated hospitality team, which is closely overseen by the owners of the Inn (Will & Brett) as well as the on-site Innkeeper, Abby Rose. The owners of Norumbega are life-long travelers, art, fashion & design enthusiasts, and sought to make all the things one might need close at hand so that a stay at Norumbega feels like an extension of one's own home. Abby Rose is a native of Colorado and has been innkeeping since 2001. She is incredibly hospitable, warm, and keeps the Inn running smoothly.

Property information

The Norumbega, nestled along a lush and scenic stretch of coastal Route 1 overlooking Penobscot Bay, is one of Maine’s most distinguished inns and sought-after boutique hotels. Built in 1886 as a single-family home in the style of Europe's grand estates and manor houses, the castle-like structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Norumbega offers eleven unique and elegant guest rooms, including two luxurious suites, all furnished with King beds, sitting areas, and en-suite baths. Guests enjoy a gourmet breakfast, and an intimate bar offers wine, beer, and classic cocktails most evenings. With endlessly elaborate wooden trimmings, several prominent fireplaces throughout the house, and a quiet yet personable level of service, The Norumbega offers a uniquely sublime place from which to enjoy Camden-Rockport and midcoast Maine.

Neighbourhood information

The Norumbega is within walking distance of Camden's picturesque harbor and its charming downtown, full of independent shops, amazing restaurants, and art galleries. The Inn looks upon Camden Hills State Park, which offers a variety of trails for hiking, a picturesque shoreline, and cross-country skiing - also within walking distance of the Inn. Rockport Harbor is a short 5-minute drive from Norumbega, and Rockland, Maine is only 15 minutes by car. Both towns offer an abundance of good restaurants, quaint shops, and cultural amenities such as Bay Chamber Music School and the Farnsworth Museum. Just outside of Camden is the Snow Bowl, a family-friendly ski hill featuring 20 runs and a 4,000 foot triple lift with ocean views from the top of the mountain. Picturesque drives further afield from Camden lead to craggy shores and historic lighthouses, out-of-this-world lobster shacks, antique stores, and charming seaside villages.
