Throughout my life I always enjoyed a vacation in the mountains. The cool, clear mountain air, the rushing streams, the peace and quiet of the forest bring tranquility to the soul. In 1998, after years of camping and vacationing in tourist areas, I bought a small cabin here in Nantahala for use as a summer home. I soon found that others enjoyed the beauty of the area too, and I was delighted to share my cabin and act as a host. Now, twenty-five plus years later, there are four cabins, I live here full time, and I still enjoy sharing the beauty of the mountains with visitors. This cabin, The Sky Breeze, is the latest, the largest and the finest of the four. I hope you enjoy your stay. The extra spacious Sky Breeze Cabin is secluded near the top of a privately owned, 40-acre, tract of rugged, mountain wilderness. Yet, the beautiful new cabin is very close to a lot of fun things to see and do. It is only minutes to waterfalls, trout fishing, rafting, tubing, hiking, ziplines, horseback riding, scenic train rides and the Appalachian Trail. Two lively streams cross the property at its lower level and at the top it borders the Nantahala National Forest. Guests enjoy long range mountain views from the large windows of all three bedrooms, as well as from the spacious covered porch and the bedroom sun deck. The two lower decks host a propane grill and a porch swing. There is also a firepit out back and a starter supply of campfire wood is provided. (no bonfires please) The entire first floor is ADA compliant including the kitchen, living area, bedroom, bathroom, upper porch and deck. There are four smart TVs, free internet, a jetted tub, porch rockers, ceiling fans, a gas log fireplace, a fully furnished kitchen, a full-size washer and dryer and more amenities that this space will allow. There are only four cabins on the 40-acre tract. They are all owned by The Cabins at Long Branch and none are visible from the Sky Breeze Cabin. The terrain is steep and rugged and there are no established trails at this time, however you are welcome to explore it all. Many guests spend their time hiking to mountain tops and rafting down rivers, while others prefer the peace and quiet of a rocker on the large, covered porch or a cup of coffee in front of the real fireplace. However you choose to spend your time, we know you will enjoy The Sky Breeze Cabin.
