Company information

Catherine and Michael have worked together in the Hospitality Industry for the past 20 years. they have taken over Altona Lodge as Catherine's brothers-in-law, Peter and Craig have moved. Michael lives on the property and while Catherine and her husband Trevor live next door. Even though Altona is an entry level Property, everything possible is done to ensure that Guests have a pleasant stay in a clean and safe environment. Small upgrades to the Property are on going to ensure Guest satisfaction. We strive to live by our traditional motto of "Enter as Strangers, Leave as Friends"

Property information

Altona Lodge was built in 1898 by Scots wanting to move further away from the Foreshore. Some considerations before booking at Altona: - Altona is an "entry level" Guesthouse and is not star graded - Altona is, unfortunately, not wheelchair friendly and persons with walking difficulties should know that there are steps up to the front door and that the bulk of our bedrooms are situated on the first floor that is accessible only by a staircase- we do not have a lift. - We do not offer 24 hour reception services - Upon making a booking, please advise us on your estimated time of arrival - Airport Shuttle services is offered at additional charges - Not all rooms have their own bathrooms - Being an old House, Guests are requested to consider other Guests by keeping noise levels down. - Rates are per person and a continental breakfast is included. - No unregistered Guests are allowed into Bedrooms - Street parking ONLY - No Braai (BBQ) facilities and no pool

Neighbourhood information

Green Point is (still) a mainly Victorian Neighborhood. The "Village feel" is obvious with its narrow streets and Historic homes. Being protected by Table Mountain we probably experience the best weather the Cape has to offer. Nearly everything is within walking distance, as Green Point is situated in the center of a web of activities and Tourist Hot Spots.
