Your hosts are a husband-and-wife team, Robert and Anette Rosenbach, who relocated to the Western Cape in 2009 to live their dream of running a wine & guest farm in South Africa. We will be here to look after you in person. Our 'family' are a dog and three cats, who share the farm with us and our guests.

TANAGRA is an idyllic wine farm close to McGregor and part of the Robertson Wine Route and Route 62. We offer comfortable accommodation in well appointed guest cottages, and produce handcrafted wines in a boutique wine cellar and stylish Grappa and Eau de Vie in our boutique distillery. An old wild fig tree gave the farm its name, 'Tanagra' - it echoes the Khoisan expression for a well-shaded place. This giant tree canopies the historic homestead and winery, providing welcoming shade during the hot days of summer. Come and stay with us in one of our private cottages, explore the farm and taste our farm products right where they are produced - agritourism at its best. Some of our cottages are part of the main farm, canopied by our giant wild fig tree and with access to a pool in the garden, while others are situated in the 'wild' part of the farm, in pristine Karoo veld, with private plunge pools.

The farm and area is great for nature & wine lovers. There are various walking/hiking trails on which guests can explore the whole farm and that extend into Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve. There's an abundance of bird life on the farm, which makes it a birder's paradise. Guests are welcome to enjoy a complimentary tasting of the wines and spirits we produce at Tanagra with owners Robert or Anette, and can of course explore the many great other wine estates in the Robertson - McGregor valley. The quaint village of McGregor is only a convenient 5 minutes away (Robertson 10 minutes), offering a lovely small-village atmosphere with good restaurants, cafes, galleries and a pottery.
