Jo
Perhaps the most unique accommodation in Franschhoek. With its ingenious use of space (rooms downstairs opening onto the pool, living area upstairs with those spectacular views) showcases creativity and panache for the more sophisticated traveller.
Jo has been in Franschhoek since 2002 and was raised a few kilometres away over the mountains. The years in between were spent in the UK, Australia, France, Croatia and New York fuelling his desires for adventure, finishing off with a solo sailing trip down the Irrawaddy River, in Burma, and on through the Andaman Sea. Jo moved down to Franschhoek, settling in arguably the most scenically beautiful wine valley in the world. This is one of eight properties under the ‘Explorers Club’ umbrella. Before you arrive I will send some information through to you to get the most out of your stay. I will also check you in and give you the lowdown on the village and also answer any of your questions.
The valley is indisputably one of the most beautiful wine regions in the world, surrounded by towering mountains. It is a great base camp to explore the Western Cape, with Cape Town and beaches less than an hour away. The historic village was founded by French Huguenots in 1688 and retains its authentic air. The valley has its wonderful wineries and it has grown into a foodie destination. With regular farmers markets and supermarket nearby, it’s a doddle to stock up for eating in at The Library, with its Le Creuset cookware. But with such brilliant restaurants on your doorstep you’ll also want to venture out. So here you get to have your cake and eat it. This is an independent travellers playground so it is best to hire a car to see the best of what the Cape has to offer
