The hotel team was outstanding: the couple managing the ryokan are great and the rest of the team did a very very good job too. Very good value for money. Highly recommended!

My stay was not only very comfortable and pleasant, I also felt a lot of genuine warmth from the owners, taking care of me every step of the way. The house is beautiful, with Japanese artwork and spirit throughout. I'd suggest staying for a few days to be able to get to know the owners, their friends and also other guests - it'll be worth it. I'll definitely be back.

Our set breakfast and dinner were fantastic, as we had a private dining room. The complimentary drinks were a nice welcome for a cold wet day.

I had a lovely stay at Tamonkan, to top off a great week travelling beautiful Tohoku. The hosts were so kind (including letting me use the shower after I’d checked out and been soaked climbing Mt Haguro!). The food was delicious and affordable, and the accommodation clean and comfortable. I’d highly recommend Tamonkan to anyone wanting to visit Dewa Sanzan. Thank you for a great stay!

Also the in-person check-out was great and they were very attentive. The room is beautiful and it has everything that you need. I recommend it.

This was a wonderful stay with an exceptionally kind host and his 2 adorable dogs. He makes you feel immediately at home, and gave great suggestions about what to see in the area. The house was charming - its age in parts, It is a real house, that has been lived in and loved.
