The house is fantastic, clearly newly renovated with all the comforts. Lots of attention to detail and very cosy, the kitchen was fully equipped, we only stayed for a couple of nights but would have loved to stay longer! The house is very close to Keswick and a great base for exploring the Lake District.

On arrival the studio was lovely and warm, there was a welcome pack of fresh flowers, chocolates and milk which is a nice touch. The studio is very well equipped also coffee, tea, hot chocolate and sugar were provided. It was clean and comfortable. The owners live next door and are on hand if needed but otherwise respect your privacy. We have stayed twice now, you get the best of both worlds self catering but just the right size apartment better than a hotel room or a cottage we think,, we will be back!

Ees Wyke Country House is an elegant Georgian property in the Lake District, less than 3 miles from the town of Hawkshead. We were immediately welcomed and given a tour of the beautiful building, including the garden and the two lounges. Everywhere was kept toasty thanks to the fire places, and there were lots of books and board games available to pass the time. Our room was spacious, clean and kept supplied with lush hot chocolate, tea, etc. We had a fantastic view of the lake too. The staff were absolutely wonderful and couldn't be more helpful. Had a lovely chat with Ed one day, then Angela the next! The food was fantastic, I would highly recommend grabbing at least one dinner there, and definitely go down for breakfast every day. Wonderful selection, and exceedingly tasty. Incredibly cooked by the owner and solo chef, Richard!

All the staff we spoke to were polite, friendly and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Our suite was cleaned to a high standard, well maintained and quiet throughout our stay. We have already booked to return next year…

This place is perfectly located in the heart of Keswick, but so hidden away that it’s wonderfully quiet and calm. It’s been renovated to an extremely high standard, with really thoughtful touches and quality equipment. We loved the aesthetic and the clever use of space. The view of Skiddaw is simply stunning over the rooftops. The hosts were brilliant. We hope to return.

We booked at the Catbells Sunrise Cottage based on an internet search for cottages in the Lake District, and couldn’t have chosen a nicer place to spend a week in late September! Our goal was to stay at a quiet cottage out-of-town, yet close-in enough to get some groceries, visit shops and museums, and to enjoy an occasional pint and pub meal. The local bus provided us the option of not having to make the short drive into town. And to walk! The path to the summit of Cat Bells began for us just outside the door, with amazing views across the Derwent Water, and down into the Newlands Valley. The path at the base of the fell allowed for less-strenuous excursions north to Hawse End (stopping for an ice cream at the half-way mark), or easy walks south through the Brandelhow and Manesty Woods, to go for a pint at the Borrowdale Gates, or visit Lodore Falls across the Derwent footbridge. The cottage had a comfortable bed, and a very usable kitchen for cooking meals. Note that the hosts wanted to minimize having one-use plastic in the cottage; we recommended that the kitchen have a few re-sealable containers for left-overs. The heat responded quickly to warm the cottage upon our return from cool or damp walks. We enjoyed early coffees and breakfast on the deck, amazed at the morning cloud over the lake at first light, watching birds and enjoying the late fall flowers in the garden. Xia was a very accommodating and communicative host, responding to our needs and providing information and history of the area, and - when I forgot my new hat upon leaving - went out of her way to post it to me before we left the country! I highly recommend Catbells Sunrise Cottage for your stay in the Lakes District.

Just outside of Keswick not too far if you wanted to walk into the town to save hassle of trying to find parking during the busy day. Moreover, the location of Shepherds view offers amazing views over Keswick and two of the lakes. The owner was very kind and caring about our stay and made sure we were happy and let us know if we needed anything we’d know where to find them. Another thing that we found super helpful and a nice touch was the folder left on the kitchen table full of different activities you can do such as different tours of all the lakes etc…as well as letting us know of nearby walks places to eat and must see locations. Furthermore, the Lodge itself had modern appliances all round but still provided that warm cosy lodge feeling.

The house was exceptionally clean, and fresh smelling. Fantastic kitchen utensils. The garden area was neat and pretty with outstanding views. Lovely and quiet with walks in every direction. Handy for Keswick and Derwent water. Bus service available from the cafe.

Brilliant location. Views from top bedroom and upstairs sitting room were amazing. Well equipped kitchen. Walking distance to everytbing. Perfect stay. Cannot fault.
