My mum and I had the most wonderful stay at Electra Palace Athens! From the moment we arrived, we felt like princesses thanks to the incredibly warm and smiley customer service. The staff were always there to check on us, making sure we had everything we needed. The hotel itself was spotless, very comfortable, and beautifully maintained. One of the highlights was the breathtaking view of the Acropolis from the rooftop restaurant—absolutely unforgettable! Even though the swimming pool was under renovation, we had access to the pool at the sister hotel, Electra Metropolis, just a short 2-minute walk away, which was a perfect alternative. Overall, we are beyond happy with our stay and will cherish these memories for a long time. Thank you to the entire team for making our trip so special!

Acropolis

Long before it became known as Bloomfield Falls, this magnificent waterfall was called Wujal Wujal by the indigenous Kuku Yalanji people. Hire a guide and learn why these people still consider Wujal Wujal to be sacred. Or just head down with your 4x4 and a picnic hamper, and have lunch in serious style!

A must to visit, it is climbable, I am 75 and with help from my daughter I made it to just before the top, I'm afraid of heights so didn't make the top with the crowds. Best time to go is 8am, our time was changed to 10am, due to a strike. If you are unable to climb the steps there is a cart that takes you to a lift which takes you to the top.

Go very early in the day, or very late, to avoid the huge crowds. Buy your timed tickets in advance, and they are separate from the museum. The museum is great, but there are several better collections in the center of Athens.

Nice to see but 30 euro is really too much for seing a few stones. Not much left of this area, like most temples of ancient Greece. We were a bit dissapointed. Greeks build an immage on the old history. A lot more labour of reconstruction could be done by escavating areas and putting the pieces together to look more like the original. Visitors should at least be permitted to walk inside the area of the temple.

Ancient wonder. It was a beautiful day when we visited the Acropolis. Majestic structure against blue skies. Tough parts of the monument is under renovation, the pathway for tourists was very well marked. People could walk around find the best photography angels and just soak in the history.

Athens is a wonderful city to visit & explore… however, beware of Rogue Taxi 🚖 drivers! If they don’t display their photo/licence walk away! Even if they put on the “meter” it’s best to ask for a price and not accept an astronomical cost on arrival !🥺 The fare from Airport to Athens is around 50€ NOT 120€ which we were charged by 1 bandit in August! We found a very honest & friendly Taxi driver who spoke English - works for a company called “Athens My Transfer” check it on-line.

Perfect location with easy access around Athens by tram and bus. The apartment was clean and well-appointed. It had everything needed for a short stay. We really enjoyed having the beach across the road and the restaurants at the end of the marina. I loved the neighbourhood with its tree lined streets, shops, and friendly locals. And of course, the jacuzzi on the terrace - very welcomed after a walk to the acropolis.

Clean, tidy apartment the Host is very kind and helpful. Lives next door and said call him if you need anything. Saw us arrive late and came and helped us get the keys and our suitcases up to the apartment. Easy access to Athens central Larissa station for the airport and Piraeus port. Metro located there also 3 stops to Athens Syntagma Square and the Acropolis. Very well priced. Highly recommend staying here.

The location is perfect for people visiting Athens and the neighbourhood even if it is Central does not feel overloaded with tourists and hotels like other part of the centre. To the Acropolis it is only a 10 minutes walk and to reach other nice neighbourhoods is also easy due to public transport. The communication was great with the owners and they were helpful.

The apartment itself was very lovely and it was just wonderful to discover that all the main sights (like the Acropolis) were only a stones throw away. Very convenient location with metro, tram & busses at the end of the street. It has a roof terrace with a view of the Acropolis. The Thai Grrovy Mango, Teras Athens bar, coffee/pastry shops & Kalamaki bar area all very good.

Go beyond the Acropolis and explore the Agora and Kerameikos, imagining yourself entering Athens along the road from the port of Piraeus, and following the Panathenaic Way to the Akropolis. Stop at the museums along the way to understand the significance of each site. Then visit the National Archaeological Museum to see that classical Athens is just one of Greece's many magnificent cultures.

If you want to avoid crowds while seeing the famous sights, start out early and be at the sights when they open. I arrived at the Acropolis around 8:10 AM and there were only around 20 people on the whole compound. It was wonderful! There was a crowd climbing the hill when I descended, though!

Consider visiting Athens in May or September.

Consider visiting Athens in May or September. May is just lovely. Spring flowers like poppies and daisies cover the hills. It's not too busy and not too hot. Remember that on holidays you are always moving so consider the weather when you make your plans. Also, research opening hours as the Acropolis is closed May 1; and other Ancient Landmarks are closed on certain days and on certain hours any other day.
