We had a truly lovely stay at Solar Mendonça. The location is excellent – right in the center of Faro, just a short walk from the ferry terminal, the bus station, and many great local restaurants and cafés. Despite being so central, the place is peaceful and feels like a calm retreat. The rooms were spotless and tastefully decorated, with very comfortable mattresses. We appreciated the extra pillows and blankets provided in the room. The bathroom was well-equipped, especially for female travelers – shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion were all available and of good quality. Communication with the hotel management was outstanding. Everything was prepared in advance – we received all the access codes for the building and the room ahead of time, and we each had two key cards, which was very convenient. There’s also a rooftop terrace where you can sunbathe or relax. Although we didn’t use it much because we were mostly at the beach, we noticed the hotel thoughtfully provides special towels for the sun loungers. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily return. It’s a cozy, clean, and well-run place that feels like home in the heart of Faro.

I had an operation in HPA Gambelas. Great location between Airport, Hospital and Faro City Centre. Friendly informative staff, Very handy and homely breakfast bar. Good value for money.

Sorry! Found it to be not clean as the rest of Portugal. The sea and cliffs were amazing. We stayed at Casa Dos Arcod. A historic 300 year old guest house. The owners were so gracious. Rooms large and clean. Right in old town. Old town is not so clean. Evening party town.

Don't rely on local taxis as they concentrate on more...

Don't rely on local taxis as they concentrate on more lucrative airport runs, use the Uber app or the local equivalent as they are far more reliable, I waited 3 hours for a taxi and by luck was able to get a private taxi.
