It’s like leaving a moment out of this world in a complete paradise ! We had such a great time, location is incredible between the tropical jungle and the ocean, the tents are perfect and have everything we need and the view on the beach. The food was so good, the best we had in Costa Rica, the prices feel justified compared to the rest of the country.
The staff is awesome, really nice and helped have the best experience there.
The hotel offers night walks where we got to see turtles nesting, hikes in the Corcovado with a great guide who is willing to share his experience of nature and naturals, massages also.
I can only recommend !!

Amazing location in the jungle. Teaming with wild life. We had toucans in the tree next to our casita the entire 2 days. There was a spectacle of monkeys and coati feeding from a tree next to our casita both mornings and evenings.

The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge. This place has stolen our hearts. We couldn’t be more thankful and happy with our stay here, best in our 3,5 weeks in Costa Rica! The nicest owners who put their heart, soul and much effort in this lovely ecolodge with lots of attention for the wildlife welfare. Our tent by the beach was lovely. (It’s one of the nicest beaches we saw and we were there all alone!) Sunrises and sunsets there were amazing. We saw all four monkeys species each day, macaws flew over our heads and we saw lots of other wildlife too: truly unique being so close to nature and wildlife. This is not just a nice place to stay, it’s a whole experience beyond compare. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!! Thank you for having us, we will be cherishing our stay there forever and will be back.

Wow - I had a 7 out of 5 star experience! El Remanso really matches the epitome of luxury lodges anywhere in the world, such as the top properties operated by Oberoi or Taj. Where do I begin... I was wowed by the stylishness and comfort of my room (more below), loved the pool, and fell in love with the setting deep in the rainforest, seeing and hearing the Pacific Ocean in the background, and experiencing the fauna and flora in daily walks. Yet the two most outstanding features were the people and the food.
I learned in the introduction of the hotel in the in-room hotel guide that it is a local family business hiring only locals from the Osa península. They wrote apologetically that everyone studies hard but that as they constantly train up new employees, too, one should excuse any imperfection. The experience, however, was the best I've ever had. Everything comes from people's heart - they not only are most professional (as they must be trained extremely well) but everything they do seems to come from a deep desire to make their guests happy. For example, the driver who picked me up from the airport already tried to spot animals to show me during the 1-hour drive to the lodge, stopping along the way where he found some. They offer "at least" one guided tour every day and they actually arranged two for me every day even though some were private tours as I was the only guest that had requested certain tours during my stay. At the same time, when I asked about one of the paid tours mentioned in their list of tour options, they told me that given the length of my stay, they would recommend that I focus on their free tours which they honestly considered the best choices! Which other hotel would intentionally forgo a chance to generate some extra commission only to give the best possible experience to the guest?
The food was just as outstanding.

We came to PuertoJimenez to go Birdwatching, which we did with Royer, an excellent Birder. Also, I would recommend the Night Walk, with Emmanuelle in the Osa Interactive Garden. The Dinners & Breakfasts were excellent at the Iguana Lodge Beach Resort. The staff were very friendly, also the owner Lauren! Playing in the surf, with their Boogie Boards was challenging but fun!
I have mixed feelings about this lodge, the estate is stunning with beautiful walking trails and canopy towers for watching wildlife. Staying in open bungalows definitely has its charms, but also comes with some disadvantages.
Iguana Lodge is a wonderful hotel placed in a small sliver of paradise. The facilities, food and staff is all great and the views and beach is beautiful. We had such a wonderful time and would love to come back to visit again one day.
My wife loves Playa Carate, and enjoyed her time at this lodge. (I went along as good hubbie, as nature is not my thing, so these are her views). The cabin we had was rustic but spacious, set in the rain forest and with a great view. 3 types of monkey could be seen, and she reports the birding was very good. We stayed 3 nights, and went to the same spot on the beach each day. Carate is definitely the place to see macaws. My wife also loves its remoteness and isolation.
It was marvelous to be in such a remote place experiencing the primary forest. Beautiful views of the Gulfo Dulce and nice birding. Lovely family owns/operates the lodge and we really enjoyed meeting them and learning from them about the area and the wildlife. Also the meals were quite good. So amazing to be somewhere with no light pollution and no road noise.
Primitive lodge in the middle of the jungle. You will sleep in an open room situation with the sounds of the jungle. Howler monkeys, birds, etc. Amazing nature scenery, complete isolation and relaxation. Amazing sky with countless stars.
Got a great recommendation for dinner (Iguana Lodge). Use of the kayaks at hotel was great and staff was helpful.
