So it is a good starting point for climbing Mount Ella and seeing the waterfall. A nice walk along the tracks or the road into town, or a TukTuk is always ready to drop or pick you up. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious, they catered to my vegan preferences without hesitation. The room was new and clean and the view of the train track beneath is probably the best location in Ella. I loved relaxing on the balcony in the afternoons watching the train and walkers on the tracks.

There is a lot of attention to detail when it comes to decoration, we loved it. One of the best value for money accommodations we had in Sri Lanka. Plus Angelo is very nice and helpful! Very quiet. No traffic noise. The room was spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water for the shower. Delicious home cooking. But above all else our host and his family made us feel so welcome. Our host helped us plan a fantastic few days. He is completely fluent in English which made all the arrangements go so smoothly.

The staff also helped us immensely when we needed to take our son for medical attention. The only thing that was a bit misleading was they told us that they provide a tuk tuk for the local area. We assumed it was included… we assumed wrong and were charged a lot in addition. This was certainly not a deal breaker though - we loved it here. 11/10

Both a bicycle rental service and a car rental service are available at the lodge. We had a fantastic two-night stay with Vimukthi and his wonderful family. The bed was very comfortable and the view is absolutely stunning. We had dinner there on our first night and it ended up being our favourite meal of our entire trip to Sri Lanka. We also arranged for Vimukthi to drop us to town and collect us in the evenings, and everything went perfectly. The whole family were so warm and welcoming, which made the stay even more special. Highly recommend!

During our stay we loved our Sri Lankan breakfast, the style, comfort, size and view of our room, as well as the authentic cooking class we took! Could not recommend this home away from home more!
