It truly is a 5 star glamming experience in every way! You can opt for self catering and the provision for that is outstanding - or do what we did, used the restaurant on site. They will also bring the restaurant to your tent and you just order from the menu! Every evening there was a full turn down service so that your tent was warm and cosy and heating, including electric blankets supplied. Our stay was in August so chilly at night. Our tent was in front of the river and every evening we lit a fire and gazed at the stunning night sky. An absolutely clear sky and we could switch off the main light switch to facilitate this. Though remote we had excellent wifi facilities. The staff were superb hosts and made sure every expectation of our stay was met and more. When we received our joining instructions and realised our little car would struggle with the road to Mbizane, a member of staff gave us secure parking at her home and took us to the site with all our luggage. We really appreciated this as the road is challenging. However, with the option to get a lift on a 4x4 vehicle this was no longer a problem.

Very friendly staff and the location in the middle of the bush was amazing. Food was good, and reasonable pricing of the wine. The pinotage Journal from Diemersdal is very nice! We were very well treated by everyone, and always a smile meeting you on encounter. Food is very generously portioned as well, and nice if you like Asian style cooking.

The location is stunning, as the lodge is situated inside a huge land with ponds and hills where several types of wild animals roam freely (zebras, buffalo, eland, ostriches, etc.). Our room was spacious and very comfortable - the only downside being that the shower is literally inside the bedroom with no door to it, so water gets splashed outside unfortunately - and the high, king-sized bed was the most comfortable we've tried in South Africa. There was a bathtub in the open bathroom area which we never used. Before we arrived, we got a bit lost on the way as Google Maps took us on dead-end roads in the nearby town covered with tall wetlands grass, but thanks to Lulu and her sister who helped us on the phone and waited for us on the street in town, we were able to make it safely to the lodge, albeit very late at night! Thankfully, Christa came to pick us up after we parked at the gate since our car wouldn't have made it on the muddy road leading up to the lodge. Christa was so helpful during our stay, advising us on where to exchange money and helping us with the roads to take. A highlight of our stay at Wetlands Game Lodge was actually the food, especially the heavenly OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD fillet that melts in your mouth that was skillfully prepared by Chef Denzel. Dinner was waiting for us when we checked in around 10:30PM, and the fillet was still unbelievable! We ordered the same meat the next day, and we were pleased with the same quality. Also, Chef Denzel prepared a surprise cake for my husband as it was his birthday and Valentine's Eve as well, and the cake was excellent, too! Breakfast was decent and the latte was a great addition. We tried the couple massage with two ladies and were very pleased. We highly recommend this exceptional lodge and we hope to return soon!
